Texas Limestone

Limestone gallery

My inspiration was from working with clay. I wanted to recreate the smooth feel of cool clay. I love my sculptures to be touchy-feely objects.  You can run your fingers through the grooves and feel the subtle changes in the stone. When naming the stone, my husband said it looks like an image of a person folded over and lamenting.

During a road trip through Texas, We found a quarry. They were happy to sell me a full block (5' x 5' x 10'). Then I explained I only wanted a few small pieces to try working with limestone. They generously gave me three blocks. I was very excited! Yes, I enjoyed playing with limestone.
