Frances Fine Art - Abstract Sculptures and Paintings
July is my happy month. Not only do we celebrate our beautiful countryside, but my husband and I celebrate our birthdays. Yippie, POP, there goes another year!
Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter/blog. This is a new “thing” for me. So, it pleases me that you are interested in following my artistic journey. I promise not to rattle on and probably will only do it monthly. You may have read my Blog, but recently I learned there is a difference between a newsletter and a blog. Newsletters are about my artistic journey, and blogs are more descriptive processes of creating sculptures and paintings. I would hope you read my newsletter as a more personal touch with a link to the Blog. Please let me know what you think.
Spring and summer are my most delightful times in Evergreen. I see more people I know out and about, and new shops are opening for the first time. I love winter for its beauty, with the snow nourishing our environment. And of course, December is magical for us. But the most artistically rewarding thing for me as a stone sculptor is the warmer weather. It is when I'm able to work outside, carving stones into sculptures, that I feel most free and fulfilled.
So far this summer, I've sculpted the four pieces in the photo above. The Yule marble piece still needs more sanding (not my favorite task) and mounted to a base. I don't know what type of stone the three dark stones are (Yep, I am not a geologist), but they are very interesting. The rock appears to have gems embedded in the stone. I want to visit the Golden Mine Museum in the hope that they will identify the rock. I'll let you know. As you may have seen, I usually mount my sculptures on a base, but this stone is so precious that I feel it could stand on its value. However, I am tempted to install a small hidden turntable. I love turntables because you can easily turn the sculpture to view all the angles.
Soon, you will find these four sculptures on my website in the Desk Sculpture category among the other smaller components. Of course, I would love for you to see and touch the sculptures in my gallery. You are always welcome to visit my studio. Just contact me to arrange your visit. If you find yourself in my neighborhood and hear the compressor running, stop in. My studio is open just about every weekend. Hope to see you, no expectations, just enjoyment!
Enjoy art,
Frances
